BMC Atrium Orchestrator Run Book for Discovery Synchronization

BMC Atrium Orchestrator Run Book for Discovery Synchronization addresses the unintended consequences of an agile environment and delivers process workflow automation for specific operational activities. The run book automates updates to the configuration management database (CMDB) when manual moves occur with virtual machines, and records the moves as a latent change in BMC Remedy ITSM.

The run book supports VMware distributed resource scheduler (DRS) migrated events, which are recorded as latent changes in BMC Remedy ITSM.

In event management, it is physically impossible and also unnecessary for the IT staff to intervene in each and every event. Rather than flood the operations console with events, BMC Atrium Orchestrator Run Book for Discovery Synchronization manages events by exception, requiring the IT staff to intervene only when necessary. The run book workflow filters and processes VM migrate events. It triggers a BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping (ADDM) rescan, which updates the CMDB based on the events that are automatically captured according to pre-approved policies.
