Viewing a Job Summary report

The Job Summary report summarizes the actions, processing state transitions, and configuration changes for a selected job. A Job Summary report is available for any job listed in the Network > Jobs list.

To generate a Job Summary report

  1. Open the Job Summary report wizard page by navigating to Reports > Activity Reports > Job Summary.

  2. New in 8.9.03Optionally, enter an annotation (to identify this report when it appears in a list among other reports) and enable an email notification to be sent when the report generation is complete and the report is ready for viewing.
  3. Select one of the following options and enter a search value:
    • Job ID: Include in the report only the job that has the specified Job ID.
    • Change ID: Include in the report only jobs that have the specified Change ID. (The Change ID can be from BMC Remedy ITSM, internal RFC process, and so forth.)
    • Task ID: Include in the report only jobs that have the specified Task ID.
    • Annotation: Include in the report only jobs containing an action whose annotation matches the specified Annotation. Both exact and wildcard matches are supported.
  4. Select any of the following options, as relevant:
    • Show Configuration Changes: (Optional) Show configuration changes made by the job. Changes are shown in a summary format (similar to the Change Summary Report) with clickable icons to launch a change details popup. Note that only standard span actions that access devices and non-inspection-only custom actions track their configuration changes in their jobs.
    • Show Job History: (Optional) Show when the job was created, submitted, approved/rejected, and executed.
  5. Click Next to begin the report generation and New in 8.9.03to display its progress on the Report Activity page.

  6. Click Refresh until the report is completed, or wait until you receive the notification email. If the report is aborted, the Progress column indicates so, to alert you that the report data is partial. You can view the partial report, but be aware it is partial. You should refine your selections (if you asked for too-large a report) or re-generate the report (if it was aborted due to a system shutdown) in order to obtain a complete report. Then delete the aborted report as soon as possible. For more information about the Report Activity page, see Viewing-report-activity.
  7. Click the Job Summary link in the Report column to display the report.

  8. Verify that the report is complete. If the report was aborted, the title and the Report Generation information in the footer inform you so, and the footer informs you about the user who aborted it. An aborted report will be missing one or more jobs and configuration changes.

The originator is shown in italics if the originator is not a user (for example, if originator is a policy).
Note: The Send Email option is replaced with Send Notification in version 8.9.01 and later.
