Viewing the roles listing
Roles are used to define user access rights. Users can be assigned to one or more roles where rights are aggregated. TrueSight Network Automation as installed has the following roles:
- Administrator
- Planner
- Manager
- Viewer
Additional standard roles are included to support external reporting or BMC Decision Support – Network Automation systems:
- Report Administrator
- Report Author
- Report Designer
- Report Viewer
The reporting roles have no rights or privileges in TrueSight Network Automation. They exist solely to be imported into other systems for their security purposes. If you do not integrate TrueSight Network Automation with these external systems, you can safely delete these roles.
You can view the roles listing by navigating to Admin > User Admin > Roles. The Roles List page is displayed.
The following figure shows the list of default roles.
The Roles List page has the following menu options:
Menu option | Description |

Add | Add a new role. |
Manage Rights | Manage access rights by role or by selected rights. See Managing-role-rights-by-selected-rights. This option is available only to a user that has the Edit Role system right. |
Print View | Print the list. |
Refresh | Refresh the list. |
Help | Display help for Roles. |
The following actions are available for roles on the Roles List page:
