Managing jobs


Network-related actions initiated by users, web services, policies and device import tasks are tracked centrally as jobs. Some sample jobs are as follows:

  • User submits a job to implement a configuration change on a group of devices.
  • A web services client initiates a job to push an ad-hoc template to a device.
  • A policy runs with a Snapshot action, some of the devices in the snapshot action fail. You can copy the job created by the policy, modify the action to include only devices that failed last snapshot device filter, then re-run the job.
  • Device Import runs a Snapshot action. A job is created to perform the initial snapshot of newly-added devices. The Job Details report shows the snapshot action, status and related device configurations.
  • User adds a new device. A job is created to perform the initial snapshot, which tests the values entered for multiple fields (such as the IP address, access mode, and device security profile).
