Deleting groups

This topic provides instructions on deleting a group.

You cannot delete a group that is currently referenced by any other component (such as job, policy, rule set, or combo group). You must clear these references manually before the group can be deleted successfully. Auto-groups can be deleted manually at any time only if they are empty. When a group is deleted, all the member devices are no longer members of the group.

Note

Empty auto-groups are not deleted automatically unless you stop/start the web server service. At system startup, TrueSight Network Automation automatically deletes any empty unreferenced auto-groups. If an auto-group is in use, it is not deleted.

Logged events associated with the deleted group are retained (until aged out) and remain viewable in the Events viewer. The same is true of jobs that ran on the deleted group; such completed jobs are retained until purged and their detailed results remain viewable.

To delete a group, on the Network > Spans > Groups page, click Delete Icon_Delete.pngin the Actions column for the required group.
