Hiding sensitive data


This topic provides instructions on hiding sensitive data in templates, rules, and so on. 

To understand the concept of roles, see Managing-roles.

To hide sensitive data when displaying templates, compliance rules, or configuration files, disable the Access Sensitive Data system right during configuration of a role, as shown in the following figure. For example, to hide passwords and SNMP community strings in configuration files, you can disable this right. For more information about configuring a role, see Adding-or-editing-a-role.

The phrases such as passwords which are declared as sensitive in configurations, templates, or compliance rules, are replaced with the phrase {HIDDEN} when viewed in the UI.

To restrict users from viewing device transcripts that might contain sensitive data, disable the Access Associated Transcripts network right, as shown in the following figure:
