Upgrading and downgrading OS images on Cisco IOS XR Router devices
Running the predefined job
- Navigate to Network > Actions > Predefined Jobs.
The Predefined Jobs list page appears. - For the Cisco IOS XR Version Upgrade/Downgrade predefined job, in the Actions column, click Prepare Job
.
Enter the following details in the Edit Job page:

Change ID
Enter the Change ID for this job.
Task ID
Enter the Task ID for this job.
Run At
Select one of the following options:
- Select a date and time to run the predefined job
- Now or When Approved
Send Notification
Select one of the following options:
- Never
- On Selected State Changes
Optional
- On Error, Skip Remaining Actions
- Include Debug Trace in Communication Transcripts
User Assigned Dynamic Fields
- Change Type
- Comments
- Date Filter
- Impact
- IntegerFilter
- Risk Level
- SingleSelectMenu
- Click Save And Submit.
- The job you have prepared is displayed on the Jobs list page.
Click View
in the Actions column to view the Job Details page.
The following figure shows the Job Details page for a sample job. The page shows two actions, Add and activate packages on IOS XR (Action #1) and Commit the active software set on IOS XR (Action #2).In the sample job, Action 1# was run on all Cisco IOS XR Router devices in the Default realm. If this action fails on any of the devices, then the final job status is shown as Failed. You can click the Status link to check on the device models that were captured and on which the custom action failed.
Action #2 shows the results of the external script action. Clicking the link for a device in the Status column displays the transcript where you can see the detailed results for the device, as shown in the following figure:- Upon successful execution of the job, the OS Image column on the Devices page is populated with a new image name for the Cisco ISO XR Router devices. The following figure shows the Devices page for the sample job.
