Viewing a Device Inventory report
The Device Inventory report provides inventory data, change history, discrepancy status, and compliance status for each device in the selected network span. This report can be used for asset management, auditing change history, reconciling maintenance agreements, and reviewing current change status.
To generate a Device Inventory report
- Open the Device Inventory Report wizard page by navigating to Reports > Status Reports > Device Inventory.
- Optionally, enter an annotation (to identify this report when it appears in a list among other reports) and enable an email notification to be sent when the report generation is complete and the report is ready for viewing.
- Select the Network Span, one of the following options:
- Entire Network: Include all devices you are allowed to access.
- Realm: Select one of the defined realms.
- Group: Select one of the defined realms, and then select a group.
- Device: Select one of the defined realms, and then select a device.
If you want to include all available device information in the report, select Display All Fields. Otherwise, select Display Selected Fields and then, expand the various categories and select specific fields.
Entries marked with a plus signare inventory items that can have multiple values (for example, Hardware Inventory > Entities, History > Configurations: Running). If you select more than one multi-value field, TrueSight Network Automation generates a linear, non-tabular report. If you select at most one multi-value field, you are given a choice to display the report in tabular or non-tabular format. If you plan to export the report to a CSV file, choose at most one multi-value field and select tabular format.
- Select Next to select the report format.
For a tabular report format, you can set the order of columns in the report by dragging theicon against the column.
- Click Generate to begin the report generation and to display its progress on the Report Activity page.
- Click Refresh until the report is completed, or wait until you receive the notification email. If the report is aborted, the Progress column indicates so, to alert you that the report data is partial. You can view the partial report, but be aware it is partial. You should refine your selections (if you asked for too-large a report) or re-generate the report (if it was aborted due to a system shutdown) in order to obtain a complete report. Then delete the aborted report as soon as possible. For more information about the Report Activity page, see Viewing-report-activity.
- Click the Device Inventory link in the Report column to display the report.
The following figure presents the same report generated in a non-tabular format: - Verify that the report is complete. If the report was aborted, the title and the Report Generation information in the footer inform you so, and the footer informs you about the user who aborted it. An aborted report will be missing one or more devices.
- (Optional) In a tabular report, click on various links to view further details in a pop-up window. You can view the contents of individual configurations, transcripts, and hardware inventories; and you can view the Change Details reports for configurations and hardware inventories.
(Optional) Perform one of the following tasks by using the menu options that are available on the Device Inventory report page:
