Deprecated and dropped features

TrueSight Network Automation version 20.02 includes changes to the level of support for the following features:

To ensure that you do not overlook deprecated and dropped features and components that were announced in earlier versions of the product, some of the items listed here reiterate statements from the earlier releases.

Features dropped or deprecated in 20.02

Support for the following features is dropped in version 20.02.

Device import formats marked for deprecation

In version 20.02, the following device import formats are marked for deprecation. These formats will not be available in the future versions of Network Automation:

  • CiscoWorks Data Extraction Engine XML
  • HP Network Node Manager 7.x Data Warehouse
  • BMC Discovery and Dependency Mapping 10.2 (XML API)

Dropped support for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management

Version 20.02 of Network Automation does not support integration with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.

Dropped support for SAML 2.0 SSO authentication mechanism

Version 20.02 of Network Automation does not support the SAML 2.0 authentication mechanism.

Dropped support for the Remember me feature

Version 20.02 of Network Automation does not support the Remember login for 1 Day option while logging on to the Network Automation GUI.

No localization support

In version 20.02, Network Automation has not been localized to any other language. Product supports only English.

Features changed in earlier releases

Support for the following features is changed in earlier versions.

Changes in the default email distribution list

Starting with version 8.7.00, the email distribution list, BMC Software Support is no longer valid and will not be available for use as follows:

  • If you upgrade to version 20.02 and this list is not in use before upgrade, it is deleted during upgrade.
  • If you upgrade to version 20.02 and this list is in use or has been modified before upgrade, it is retained after upgrade.

Changes in supported SSH clients

Network Automation uses a few updated cryptographic libraries for enhanced security. As a result, the product cannot support the use of older versions of a few SSH clients, such as, Putty and OpenSSH. Instead, you can use the following SSH clients to connect to the SSH proxy server:

  • (Windows) Bitvise SSH
  • (Linux) OpenSSH_6.4p1, OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips
  • OpenSSH_5.8p1 Debian-1ubuntu3, OpenSSL 0.9.8o
  • Putty 0.68

Common Vulnerability Reporting Framework (CVRF)

As of 2017, Network Automation does not support the import of latest Cisco vulnerability advisories from CVRF. Version 20.02 of Network Automation supports the import of advisories in NVD JSON format instead. For more information, see  About-security-vulnerability-importers.

Access restricted to all HTTP-based methods other than GET and POST

Network Automation completes all user-requested tasks via GET and POST methods in case of SOAP API-based access and web-browser based access. For enhanced security, all other HTTP methods than GET and POST are restricted.
