Changing user passwords

This topic provides instructions on changing the password of a user.

To understand the concept of users, see Managing-users

Note

The option to change the password is available only when using local authentication of login sessions. This option is not available when authenticating user logins with a Microsoft Active Directory, RADIUS, TACACS+, OpenLDAP, or SAML 2.0 server.

When you log in for the first time, you are prompted to change your assigned password. In addition, TrueSight Network Automation might force you to change your password within a specified period, as defined by the system administrator under Admin > System Parameters. The system administrator can restrict you from reusing your old passwords. If you encounter any problems when changing your password, contact your system administrator.

To change a user password

Navigate to the right top corner of the Home page and do the following

  1. Click the user name, and select Change Password.
  2. Enter your current password.
  3. Enter and confirm the new password.

    Notes

User accounts that are authenticated by a third-party application such as Active Directory must conform to the policies of that application.
The following restrictions apply to local passwords:

    • Cannot be blank (empty string)
    • Cannot contain a space character
    • Must be at least 6 characters in length
    • Cannot exceed 255 characters in length
  4. Click Save.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
