Workflow- OS Disk Space Full
The OS Disk Space Full workflow is a triage and remediation workflow. The workflow is initiated by an incoming event from an identified host, the identifier being a key to the event definition and resultant workflow actions. The workflow analyzes specific slots in the event definition, slots that are mapped to XML elements in the Event_Management module for the identified host.
The workflow uses this information to determine which rules and actions to apply. Simultaneously, the workflow checks the incoming event for an existing incident ID. If none is retrieved, the workflow creates a new incident ID. If the incoming event is from a BMC PATROL host, the workflow obtains annotation data from the PATROL agent to enrich the event. It also checks for a related configuration item (CI) in the BMC Atrium CMDB. It updates both the event and the incident with the PATROL annotation data and CI information.
After gathering the host connection information from the Credentials Store, the workflow then launches the triage action to collect the disk space usage metrics. If the incident request parameter is set to true, the workflow creates an incident and updates the incident with the triage action details.
The change management process carries out the remediation tasks. The workflow creates a change request that has assigned tasks, each task representing a specific remediation command, such as cleaning the temp folder. The change request ID is associated with the incident, and the remediation details are stored in the Task Workinfo of the change management system. The event is updated with the incident ID, change and task IDs, and the remediation status details. On completion of the remediation action, the event is closed together with the related change request and incident.
