Applying licenses to the BMC ProactiveNet Server installations
You need to apply licenses only to your BMC ProactiveNet Server installations. Do not apply them to your remote BMC ProactiveNet Integration Service installations. Applying or updating the license restarts the JServer process and forces all active user sessions on BMC ProactiveNet Server to log off.
When you purchased the product, you must have received the following license files in a .zip file from your BMC representative:
- proactivenet.lic (license provisioning file)
- proactivenet.sign (encrypted signature file)
Microsoft Windows
To apply the license, perform the following tasks:
- Unzip the license files into a temporary folder.
- Copy the license files (proactivenet.lic and proactivenet.sign ) to the installationDirectory\pw\licenses directory (for example, C:\Program Files\ProactiveNet\pw\licenses).
- From the system icon tray, right-click the BMC ProactiveNet icon, and select pw commands.
- In the BMC ProactiveNet Pw Commands window, on the command line, enter the following command:
pw license update
The BMC ProactiveNet license is updated.
Solaris or Linux
You must have the root privilege to install the license. To apply the license, perform the following tasks:
- In binary mode, copy the .zip file to the /usr/pw/licenses directory.
- Unzip the file into a temporary folder.
- To load the license data, run the following command:
pw license update - Enter y to restart the JServer.
If the license update is successful, an empty command prompt is displayed. If error messages are displayed, see the Licensing-issues.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
