The agent is unreachable

While using the pw remote list command, you cannot connect to an agent.

While using the pw remote list command, you might be unable to connect to some of the BMC ProactiveNet Agents. This is not an error of the pw restore list command but is displayed when a BMC ProactiveNet Agent is not connected.

Ping the unreachable BMC ProactiveNet Agent from a BMC ProactiveNet Agent (UNIX), BMC ProactiveNet Server, or any other network asset that has an IP address to see whether the unreachable BMC ProactiveNet Agent is up and running.

To ping the unreachable agent, perform the following steps:

  1. From the command line, run the following command (replacing the following IP address with the IP address of the unreachable BMC ProactiveNet Agent): ping 207.20.93.103
  2. Depending on the response to the ping command, perform one of the following actions:
    • If the response indicates that the pinged computer is active, continue troubleshooting the connection.
    • If the response is unknown host, then the ping was not successful. Refer this problem to your network administrator.
    • If the response is no answer from, then the ping was not successful. Either the IP address is unreachable from your location or the computer is down. Continue troubleshooting the connection.
