User permissions

This topic describes roles and permissions of BMC ProactiveNet users.

The availability of various BMC ProactiveNet features for a user depends on the roles and permissions assigned to the user group to which the user is assigned.

Users are assigned to at least one user group. User groups can have multiple roles. One role can be assigned to multiple user groups, giving identical permissions to different user groups.

The roles attached to the user group give the permission to access objects in the user group.

You can define and edit the permissions that are assigned to each role in the Roles and Permissions dialog box in the User Group screen. The permissions are categorized based on usability such as Events, Product Administration, SLOs, Reports, and Graphs.

Predefined roles are displayed in the available list box of the roles and permission tab in the user group screen.
