Installing BMC Impact Integration Web Services server
Install the BMC Impact Integration Web Services server by using the following steps.
- Access the installation package for your required platform from the DVD or the EPD website.
If you access the installation package from the EPD site, you must download the image from the EPD site to a local disk. Double-click setup_IIWS.exe or setup_IIWS.bin to launch the installation.
On the EPD website, the setup file is located at BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Suite > BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Suite xx, (where xx is the version number) > BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Suite (Monitoring, Analytics, Event and Impact) xx > BMC ProactiveNet xx > BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Version xx - Core Components.It could take several minutes for InstallAnywhere to prepare to install and extract the files. When it completes these tasks, the InstallAnywhere Wizard is opened, and the Welcome screen is displayed.
- Click Next to continue. The End User License Agreement is displayed.
- Read the license agreement, click I agree to the terms of the license agreement to continue, and then click Next.
The Directory Selection window is displayed. - Perform one of the following actions, then click Nextto continue:
Accept the default directory in the Destination Directory field.
- Click Browse to search for another directory path on the file system.
- Enter a custom directory path in the Destination Directory field.
- On the HTTP/HTTPS port selection window, accept the default port number values or specify your own, and click Next to continue.
The Installation Review window opens and provides you with an overview of the installation: the directory for the installation, the name of the feature being installed, and the amount of space in megabytes (MB) that it will use. - After reviewing the installation information, click Next to continue.
The Installation Summary window opens and confirms that the installation completed successfully. - Click View Log to review the installation log.
- Click Done to exit InstallAnywhere.
BMC Impact Integration Web Services server installation directory contents
The installation installs a stand-alone Tomcat server and Axis2 components.
The BMC Impact Integration Web Services components are installed under $IIWS_HOME/Tomcat/webapps/imws/WEB-INF/.

Troubleshooting installation errors
To troubleshoot installation errors, you can view the installation logs.
- Windows log files are located at: Document and Settings\ userName\Local Settings\Temp\iiws_install_log.txt.
- UNIX log files are located at: $TMPDIR/iiws_install_log.txt or $IATMPDIR/iiws_install_log.txt.
- On UNIX systems, if more than one Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is installed on the computer, you must uninstall BMC Impact Integration Web Services by running the ./setup_IIWS.bin LAX_VM "<java_path>" command, where <java_path> is the location in which Java is installed.
