pw system change hostname
The pw system change hostname command lets you change the host name of the computer where the BMC ProactiveNet Server is installed.
This command expects the new host name to resolve to the same IP address as the old host name. This feature prevents you from using a host name that resolves to a wrong IP address. If the new host name is resolved to a wrong IP address, then you will not be able to start the BMC ProactiveNet Server.
You might need to change the host name in the following situations:
- You need to move the BMC ProactiveNet Server to a different computer. This command updates the appropriate configuration files with the new host name.
- You want to configure disaster recovery for BMC ProactiveNet where both servers are located in the same domain and you must use a host name alias to properly configure disaster recovery. This command sets up the host name alias for the secondary host.
The command format is as follows:
pw system change hostname <newHostName>
