pw repository update

The pw repository update command enables you to install or upgrade the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Repository, or to change the repository location.

Tip

Although you can use the pw repository update command to install and upgrade the repository, BMC recommends installing the Central Monitoring Repository during BMC ProactiveNet Central Server installation, and upgrading the repository through Central Monitoring Administration.

Download the repository files, 9.6_base-yyyymmdd-hhmmss.zip and 9.6_extended-yyyymmdd-hhmmss.zip (where yyyymmdd-hhmmss is the date and time of the repository image), from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility, or copy the files to the central server from the installation kit.

The syntax for pw repository update command is as follows:

pw repository update "<sourceDirectory>" "<destinationDirectory>"

where,

  • sourceDirectory is the directory path and file name from which the files of the Central Monitoring Repository are extracted and imported. The file must be in zip, tar, or tar.gz format.
Alternatively, if you extract the repository archive file, ensure that the directory structure is retained, and select the bmc_products directory as the source.
  • destinationDirectory is the directory path to which the files of the Central Monitoring Repository are imported.

For example:
pw repository update "C:\temp\9.6.00_base-20140306-130129.zip" "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ProactiveNet\pw\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products"

Note

  • Enclose the sourceDirectory and destinationDirectory values in quotation marks.
  • Do not include a backslash () at the end of the directory path.

The output is as follows:

C:\>pw repository update "C:\temp\9.6.00_base-20140306-130129.zip" "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ProactiveNet\pw\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products"
