pw device edit


Run the following command to edit a device that appears on the device list.

Note

For non-Administrators, or users without root access to the operating system, this command will be executed on all devices to which the user has access.

 pw device edit <device> [-y -debug -d <device_type_name>
-desc <description> -tag <tag_value> -i <ipaddress> |
-dnsname <dnsname> -n <name> -r <read_community_string>
-prc <conn_protocol> -pno <port_no> -lus <local_user_name>
-rus <remote_user_name> -rpa <remote_user_passwd>
-rsp <remote_system_prompt> -alias <alias_name(s)>]

For example, to change the remote connection details, run the following command:

pw device edit google -prc telnet -pno 23 -lus chicago -rus jack -rpa xyz123 -rsp "#"*
  • -i <ipaddress> — The pw device edit command with the -i option edits the IP address of the device with <ipaddress>; that is, the DNS Name/IP address field in the Edit Device window of Administration Console is edited with <ipaddress>.
  • -dnsname <dnsname> — The pw device edit command with the -dnsname option edits the DNS name of the device with <dnsname>; that is, the DNS Name/IP address field in the Edit Device window of Administration Console is edited with <dnsname>.

    Note

    The -i and -dnsname options cannot be used together.

  • -tag <tag_value> — The pw device edit command with the -tag option enables you to associate the specified tag value with the device you want to edit.
  • -alias <alias_name(s)> — An alias name or comma-separated alias names. It must be less than 1024 characters in length. It must not contain any of the following special characters: ~;:\=[]{}()/&"'`!@#$%^*+|?><.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
