Configuring offline help

In cases where the BMC ProactiveNet server does not have an active Internet connection, you can configure local or offline help.

Notes

  • The local or offline version of the documentation may not include the latest updates. For all the latest content, see the online version at https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/proactivenet96.
  • The offline help does not include help for a monitoring solution or KM. To access help for a monitoring solution or KM, you must be connected to the Internet.

To display local or offline help when an active Internet connection is not detected, perform the following steps:

  1. From the <installation directory>\pw\pronto\web\html\download directory, copy the localhelp-proactivenet.zip file to the <installation directory>\pw\tomcat\webapps directory.
  2. Extract the contents of the localhelp-proactivenet.zip file into a directory named localhelp.

    Warning

Do not extract the contents of the localhelp-proactivenet.zip file in the <installation directory>\pw\pronto\web\html\download directory, as you might encounter a Path too long error message.

  3. Add the following two entries to the httpd-proxy.conf file located in the <installation directory>\pw\apache\conf\extra directory:
    ProxyPass /localhelp/ ajp://localhost:8009/localhelp/
    ProxyPassReverse /localhelp/ ajp://localhost:8009/localhelp
  4. Restart the BMC ProactiveNet server by using the command pw system start.
