Deleting and re-creating monitors

All auto-created monitor instances can be deleted and later be re-created whenever required. The method used for deletion is the same as the one used for deleting any other BMC ProactiveNet monitor. The auto-sync engine deletes the monitor, but retains all unique information of the monitor so that it can be re-created later.

Re-create path helps to recover the auto-created monitor, which is deleted accidentally. There is no time limit for re-creation. You can re-create the auto-created instance as long as the adapter exists, even if the instance is not available at the target. However, in the subsequent auto-sync poll, an action is performed depending on the availability of the instance at the target.

Note

  • By default, all auto-synced devices are of type Server. You can change the device type of these devices by using the Administration Console.
  • When a monitor is deleted, all data collected by the monitor is deleted. When the monitor is re-created, the previous data cannot be retrieved.

Configuring existing auto-sync groups as child to a regular group

  1. Right-click the existing regular group and select Edit Group.
  2. On the Step 3 Add groups screen, click Add and select the required auto-sync groups.
  3. Click Finish to view the auto-sync group as a child group under the regular group.

To auto-sync and add adapters, see Synchronizing-data-automatically.
