Launching the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console on Microsoft Windows
Follow these steps to launch Administration Console on Microsoft Windows.
To launch the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console on Windows computers
- Access the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console menu as appropriate for your environment:
- If the Administration Console is installed on a computer where BMC ProactiveNet Server is installed, select Start > Programs > BMC ProactiveNet Server > BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console.
- If the Administration Console is installed on a computer remote from the BMC ProactiveNet Server, select Start > Programs > BMC ProactiveNet Admin v.r.mm .
v.r.mm is the version number of the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console.
- In the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console Logon screen, specify the following information:
- Name or IP Address of the BMC ProactiveNet Server that you want to connect to.
- User name with access rights to the BMC ProactiveNet Server. The default is admin.
- Password corresponding to the user name. The default is admin.
To change the password from the default, see Changing-your-BMC-ProactiveNet-Administration-Console-password. - The type of connection to use to connect to the BMC ProactiveNet Server is direct.

- Click OK.
The BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console is displayed as shown in the following figure.
Multiple Administration Consoles on Windows computers
You can have multiple BMC ProactiveNet Administration Consoles open on the same system. The BMC Administration Console must be the same version as the BMC ProactiveNet Server.
Any new installation of the BMC ProactiveNet Administration Console is a fresh installation. If an earlier version of the Administration Console already exists on a system and you try to install the Administration Console again, the following message is displayed:
"ProactiveNet Admin is already installed in the system. This installation is a fresh installation and does not upgrade earlier Admin."
