Initializing the BMC Atrium CMDB with BMC ProactiveNet data

BMC ProactiveNet requires service management data for successful operations. During installation of BMC ProactiveNet CMDB Extensions, the production dataset is initialized with service model management data. Although possible, it is unlikely that reinitialization of the production environment will be necessary.

For publishing environments that do not have an asset dataset BMC.ASSET, or environments that use the BMC.ASSET.SIMULATION dataset, you must initialize the environment with service management data.

When you can initialize a specific publishing environment, management data objects in the asset dataset and in the PN:PublishedData form of that environment are initialized. Likewise, for environments that use the BMC.ASSET. SIMULATION dataset overlay, management data objects are initialized.

The following initialization processes occur:

  • Existing management data objects are removed from the asset dataset and the PN:PublishedData form.
  • New management data objects in the asset dataset and in the PN:PublishedData form are copied from the initialization source.

For more information about initializing a publishing environment, see pinit.
