Granting permissions to individual service model objects

To grant permissions to individual configuration items

  1. Right-click the CI and select Edit.
  2. In the Edit Component Properties dialog box, on the Permissions tab, select the appropriate options.
By default, Unassigned is selected for all user groups. That is, the CI is visible to all user groups. If you, for example, select the Full Access option for the Service Administrators role and the Unassigned option for the rest of the roles, the CI is visible only to users belonging to the Service Administrators role. Users belonging to other roles will not be able to view the CI.
  3. Click OK.

    Warning

    Note

When you modify user access permissions in the BMC Impact Model Designer, they are effective immediately. For the changes to appear in BMC ProactiveNet, they must be promoted from BMC Impact Model Designer and you must then log out and then log on to BMC ProactiveNet. For permissions at the CI (component) level, you need not log out and log on to BMC ProactiveNet.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
