User goals and features
You can monitor the following features in your VMware environment:
- Configure and monitor virtual machines
You can configure vCenters and ESX or ESXi servers to monitor the performance of one or more of the following:- clusters
- hosts
- virtual machines (VMs)
- resource pools
- datastores
- vApps
- Assess how your virtual and physical resources are being utilized in your virtual environment
The monitor types and attributes enable you to determine the impact that resources assigned to your virtual machines have on your physical resources. - Create filters for monitoring
You can create filters to include or exclude the following objects from monitoring:- clusters
- hosts
- virtual machines
- datacenters
- Create filters to include or exclude VM templates and SCSI devices
- VM templates (excluded by default)
- SCSI devices (included by default)
- Event monitoring
You can create filters that monitor events in the vCenter based on various event properties such as event severity, managed objects, event type, and user generated events. - Collection mode - Enterprise or Cloud Lifecycle Management
You can select one of the following collection modes to monitor the corresponding attributes:- Enterprise
- Cloud Lifecycle Management
