Configuring threshold settings


In the Threshold Configuration tab you can configure thresholds for one or more attributes. These thresholds are implemented when the policy containing the monitor solution is activated.
 This tab is optional, and these thresholds can also be configured and implemented from the ProactiveNet Operations console. See Changing-thresholds.

To add and configure monitor thresholds

  1. In the navigation pane of Central Monitoring Administration, click the Policies drawer and select a policy view.
  2. Click Add Add icon.gif, or select an existing policy and click Edit.
  3. Select the Threshold Configuration tab.
  4. Click Add Add icon.gif.
  5. # From the Solution menu, select UNIX and Linux - HP-UX and Linux Monitoring.
  6. From the Version menu, select the required version.
  7. From the Monitor Type menu, select the Monitor Type containing the Attribute for which you want to configure thresholds. Click here for a list of Monitor types and their attributes 

    Note

    Some monitor types are not available from this menu.

  8. From the Scope list, select the threshold scope:
    • Global thresholds are applied to all monitor instances of the selected monitor type.
    • Instance thresholds are applied to the specified monitor instance or instances. If you select Instance, the Instance Name field is displayed. Enter the name of an instance or use regular expressions to define several instances.
  9. From the Attribute list, select a monitor attribute.
  10. From the Type of Threshold list, select the threshold type.

  12. To continue configuration, perform one or more of the following actions in the Add Thresholds screen:
    • To add the configuration details for the threshold to the Threshold Configuration tab, click Add Add icon.gif
    • To return settings in the current screen to default values, click Reset. The values on the current screen are reset. Be sure to click Add Add icon.gif to save the configuration on the Threshold Configuration tab.
    • To continue adding configuration details, select a different monitor type, version, or solution.
  13. When you finish configuration, click Close.
     The configuration details are displayed in the table on the Threshold Configuration tab.
  14. When you finish configuring thresholds, click Save at the bottom of the Add Policy screen, or Update at the bottom of the Edit Policy screen.
