Features of Replication Server KM
The Replication Server KM component of BMC ProactiveNet Sybase Database Monitoring contains the knowledge that PATROL uses to monitor, analyze, and manage the activities of the Sybase Replication Server.
The Replication Server KM provides a convenient and logical user interface for you to monitor the performance of a Sybase Replication system and to administer the various components of a Replication Server environment. A Replication system is a logical grouping of Adaptive Server, Replication Servers, Log Transfer Managers (LTMs), and replication agents across many computers on a wide area network.
Using the Replication Server KM, you can:
- selectively monitor threads, partitions, and queues
- monitor the Replication Server error logs
- perform common database administrator functions such as starting and stopping the Replication Server, the Log Transfer Manager (LTM), or the replication agent
- monitor the status of the Replication Server, the LTM, or the replication agent
- suspend and resume thread connections between a Replication Server and the Data Server or other Replication Servers
- view and change Replication Server configuration information
- send parameter warning and alarm data to PATROL Event Manager (PEM), where the data becomes the events that are then managed by PEM
- for added security, run most SQL commands (menus and parameters) under a general PATROL account rather than the sa account
- display detailed information (annotation) specific to a data point on a graph
- set certain periods of time when parameters do not go into a warning or an alarm state even if their values cross the alarm thresholds (blackout period)
- display predefined parameter charts that measure and correlate key server resources
- temporarily exclude a Replication Server, LTM, or replication agent from monitoring without deleting configuration information
- automatically copy Replication Server KM configuration information from the previous version to the current version of the KM
