Configuring Sybase Adaptive Server


You can configure a list of Adaptive Servers in the Sybase ASE Configuration dialog box.

  1. In the ASE Server Name box, enter the name of the Adaptive Server that you want to monitor.
  2. Enter the Sybase directory information for the Adaptive Server.

    Field

    Description

    Sybase Home Directory

    Enter the Sybase home directory for the Adaptive Server.

    Sybase ASE Sub-Directory

    Enter the Sybase ASE sub-directory for the Adaptive Server.

    Sybase OCS Sub-Directory

    Enter the Sybase OCS sub-directory for the Adaptive Server.

  3. Enter the server files details.

    Field

    Description

    Runserver File

    Enter name of the runserver file for the Adaptive Server.

    Error Log File

    Enter the path and name of the log file for the Adaptive Server.

    KRG File Path

    Enter the path and name of the .krg file for the Adaptive Server.

  4. Enter the SA account details for the Adaptive Server.

    Field

    Description

    SA Username

    Enter the username with sa_role to access the Adaptive Server.

    SA Password

    Enter the password for the specified username.

  5. Enter the PATROL account details.

    Field

    Description

    PATROL Username

    Enter the username to access the server for general menu commands and parameters.

    PATROL Password

    Enter the password for the specified username.

  6. Enter the operating system account information.

    Field

    Description

    User Name

    Enter the username of the OS account that starts the Adaptive Server.

    Password

    Enter the password for the specified username.

  7. In the Backup Server Name box, enter the name of the backup server for the Adaptive Server. 

    Note

    If you add a backup server to your existing Adaptive Server, you must reinitialize the agent for the configuration to take effect.

  8. Enter the backup directory details.

    Description

    Backup Home Directory

    Enter the home directory for the backup server.

    Backup ASE Sub-Directory

    Enter the ASE sub-directory for the backup server.

    Backup OCS Sub-Directory

    Enter the OCS sub-directory for the backup server.

  9. Enter the backup file details.

    Description

    Backup Runserver File

    Enter the name of the runserver file for the backup server.

    Backup Log File Path

    Enter the path and name of the log file for the backup server.

  10. Enter the database names that you want to monitor.

    Monitor All Databases

    To automatically monitor all databases, select Monitor All Databases.

    Database Name

    If you want to select the database names manually, enter the database name prefixed with the name of the ASE Server (for example, ASEserver.database), and click Add to List. To edit the selected database name, select the database name, and click Modify Selection. You can edit the database name, and click Add to List. To remove any database, select the database, and click Remove from List.

  11. Click Add to List.
  12. Repeat steps 1 through 11 until you have added all the Adaptive Servers.
  13. Do one of the following:
    • To add the Adaptive Server monitor type, click Add.
    • To close the window, click Close.
    • To clear all the settings and initialize the dialog box, click Reset.
  14. Click Save.
