Announcing integration with BMC ProactiveNet 9.6

BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting 9.5.02 can now integrate with BMC ProactiveNet 9.6. BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine 9.5.02 can work with BMC ProactiveNet 9.6 only using IPV4 address on dual stack and IPV4 network. BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine 9.5.02 does not work with BMC ProactiveNet 9.6 using IPV6 address.

BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine 9.5.02 does not support Oracle 12c as Reporting database. BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine 9.5.02 can directly work with BMC ProactiveNet 9.6 when any of the supported versions of Oracle, except Oracle 12c, is used as ProactiveNet database. However, to integrate with ProactiveNet 9.6 when Oracle 12c is used as ProactiveNet database, apply the Reporting 9.5.02 patch 1 for JDBC driver. For more information, see Knowledge Article KA417816 (BMC Customer Support login ID required).

After you install or upgrade to BMC ProactiveNet 9.6 and integrate with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting 9.5.02, you may encounter cell registration failures. This issue occurs if hostname is not resolved correctly in Report Engine. To avoid this issue:

  1. Comment the following entries in the host file:

      127.0.0.1       localhost

      ::1             localhost

  2. Ensure that hostname is resolved with correct FQDN by running the following command:

    nslookup <RE_Hostname>
  3. Add a valid FQDN entry in the host file.
