Licensing information


BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting is included under the same license as of BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management. The SAP® BusinessObjects that supports creation of custom reports is an add-on license, and should be obtained separately.

License for BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management 

You must obtain a license key before you can configure and use the BMC ProactiveNet Server. You can obtain a license key by sending an email message to the BMC Customer Support, customer_support@bmc.com

The BMC ProactiveNet license file (proactivenet.lic) is an XML file that is used to define the quantity of each feature or managed object that is allowed to exist in the configuration of the BMC ProactiveNet Server. It also determines the expiry date, if any, of the license. 

The signature file (proactivenet.lic) serves as a key for the license. This key reflects the properties of the license file, and the license fingerprint. If the license file is modified in any way, it no longer matches the signature, and the BMC ProactiveNet Server fails to operate. If the license file is modified, it must be restored from the original .tar file in which it was delivered. 

Also, if the BMC ProactiveNet Server installation is moved to a different computer, a new fingerprint must be generated for the new computer. 

License for SAP® BusinessObjects 

If you do not have a license key, you can obtain one through the BMC Electronic Product Distribution website. If you require additional license key information, visit the Customer Support website at http://www.bmc.com/support.

You can also send an e-mail message to customer_support@bmc.com, mentioning which BMC products you want to use with BMC Reporting Foundation. For example, BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting, and BMC Performance Manager Portal (for Crystal Reports).
