Creating a new Oracle database connection


You can create a database connection using a JDBC driver or an Oracle client.

To create a database connection using JDBC drivers

  1. After importing the BPPM_DataMart.lcmbiar file, in the Repository Resources tab, click Insert Session.
  2. In the Open Session dialog box, specify the SystemUser Name, and Password and click OK
  3. Right -click Connections > Insert Relational Connection.
  4. In the New Relational Connection dialog box, enter the Resource Name and Description (optional).
  5. Click Next.
  6. In the Database Middleware Driver Selection screen, expand Oracle > Oracle 11 and select JDBCDrivers. Click Next.
  7. In the Parameters for Oracle Connection screen, enter the following details:
    1. In the Authentication Mode list, select Use specified user name and password.
    2. Type the values that you populated in the Planning sheet for installation and configuration.
      1. User Name — type the reuniv as user name.
      2. Password — type the password for the user, by default, the password is reuniv.
      3. Servers — type the database host name and the port in the following format. The default port number is 1521.
        hostName:listnerPort
        For example, foo.zz.com:1521
      4. Net Service — type in the Oracle_SID.
    3. Click Next.

Note

You must copy JDBC drivers in SAP BusinessObjects before creating a database connection. For more information, see Configuring a JDBC driver.

To create a database connection using an Oracle client

  1. After importing the BPPM_DataMart.lcmbiar file, in the Repository Resources tab, click Insert Session.
  2. In the Open Session dialog box, specify the following details:
    • System— type the host name
    • User Name — type reuniv as the user name.
    • Password — type the password for the user, by default, the password is reuniv.
  3. Click OK
  4. Right -click Connections > Insert Relational Connection.
  5. In the New Relational Connection dialog box, enter the Resource Name and Description (optional).
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Database Middleware Driver Selection screen, select Oracle Client. Click Next
  8. In the Parameters for Oracle Connection screen, enter the following details:
    1. In the Authentication Mode list, select Use specified user name and password.
    2. Type the values that you populated in the Planning sheet for installation and configuration.
    3. Click Next.
  9. In the Configuration Parameters page, type in the values that you populated in the Planning sheet for installation and configuration, and click Next.
  10. In the Custom Parameters page, set the appropriate values for the custom parameters.
     The parameters that appear depend on the other parameters that you have set.
  11. Click Finish.
     A new connection is created, and in the Connection list, the new connection appears selected.
  12. Click OK.

Notes

  • In BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting 9.5.01, if you have created a database connection using the User Name as REUNIV and Password as REUNIV, and you want to connect to another database using the same credentials, you must delete the first connection manually.
  • In BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting 9.5.01, if you want to connect to the SAP Business Objects using the original database credentials, navigate to \Reports\Util\DatabaseScripts\oracle directory and execute the following script:
    rpt-reuniv-functions.sql
