Enhancements in version 9.0.00


The following sections below list the enhancements in BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting version 9.0.00.00.

Creation of Performance reports

This version of BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Reporting supports creation of Performance Reports. Configuration data, such as groups, monitor metadata, instances, devices with raw and rate performance data, is transferred from the BMC ProactiveNet Server Database to the Report Engine database.

Viewing reports from BMC Analytics version 7.6.0.5 for Business Service Management

You can now view reports from BMC Analytics version 7.6.05 for Business Service Management. To view these reports, you must:

  1. Configure BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine
  2. Configure the the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe for BMC Analytics for Business Service Management

Ensure that BMC ProactiveNet is integrated with BMC IT Service Management version 7.6.0.4 SP2 to view the following BMC Analytics for Business Service Management reports:

  • Escalated Incidents
  • Events to Incidents
  • Score Card Summary

Configuring BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine

  1. Download and install the .zip file of the patch installer and save it to a directory in your system.
  2. On the computer in which you have installed BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, using a text editor, open the internal.properties file located at ReportEngineHome\ReportEngine\tools\jboss\server\all\conf\properties\smsConsoleServer.
  3. Locate the com.bmc.sms.eventaggregator.event.customSlotNames property and update it as follows:
    com.bmc.sms.eventaggregator.event.customSlotNames=
    incident_id,itsm_incident_id,mc_relation_source
  4. Restart BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine.
  5. Clear the cache history of your browser.

Configuring the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe

After configuring Report Engine, configure the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe to import the BMC Analytics for Business Service Management reports.

  1. From the Start menu, select Programs > BusinessObjects XI 3.1 > BusinessObjects Enterprise > Import Wizard.
  2. In the Welcome page, click Next.
  3. In the Source environment page:
    1. From the Source list, select Business Intelligence Archive Resource (BIAR) File.
    2. In the BIAR file text box, specify the name of the BIAR file and the path. This file is located in the destination you specified.

      Note

      Use the bmcppm_90_patch_analytics_reports_boxi_31_mssql.biar BIAR file if the BMC AR Server database is Microsoft SQL Server. If the BMC AR Server database is Oracle, use bmcppm_90_patch_analytics_reports_boxi_31_ora.biar

    3. Click Next.
  4. In the Destination environment page:
    1. the CMS Name text box, enter the name of the computer on which you have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.
    2. In the User Name text box, enter the user name that provides administrative rights to the destination environment.
    3. In the Password text box, enter the password for the user name.
    4. In the Authentication text box, select Enterprise, and click Next.
  5. In the Select Objects to import page:
    1. Select the Clear All check box.
    2. Select Import folders and Objects.
    3. Select Import Universe.
    4. Click Next.
  6. In the Importing Scenario page, select Update the destination object. In case of a conflict in name, rename and click Next.
  7. In the Incremental import page, select all the check boxes, and then click Next.
  8. Read the note about importing object rights and click Next.
  9. In the Folders and Objects page, select BMC Analytics for BSM and click Next.
  10. In the Select application folders and object page:
    1. Do not select any of the check boxes.
    2. Click Next.
  11. In the Import options for universe and connections page, select the Import the universe and conditions that the selected Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence documents use directly option.
  12. In the Universe Folder and Universe page, click Next.
  13. In the Import options for publications page, select Do not import recipients.
  14. In the Importing Reports page, click Next.
  15. In the Ready to import page, click Finish.
     The Import Progress dialog box displays the status information and summary of the import while the import wizard executes the import process.
  16. To view the import log, click View Detail Log.
  17. After a successful import, click Done.

Changing the database connection for the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe

After importing the BIAR file, perform the following procedure to change the database connection for BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe:

  1. Open BusinessObjects Universe Designer.
  2. Import the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe.
  3. Go to Tools > Connections, and verify the existing database connection of Reporting Engine used in the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe.
  4. Go to File > Parameters. The Connection field is blank.
  5. Select the existing Reporting Engine database connection and click OK.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Go to File > Export.
  8. Select BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management and click OK.

Imported reports

After configuring the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe, you can view the following BMC Analytics for Business Service Management reports. Go to Public Folders > BMC Analytics for BSM > BPPM Reports to view the reports.

    • E01a – Location Detail
    • E01a – Service Detail
    • E01a – User Detail
  • E02- Mean Time To Repair
    • E02a – Device Detail
    • E02a – Location Detail
