Generating Event and Impact reports

Most of the reports have both a graphical format and a tabular format. You can generate reports interactively or schedule background report generation.

To generate reports interactively in BusinessObjects XI 3.1

  1. Select Start > Programs > BusinessObjects XI 3.1 > BusinessObjects Enterprise > BusinessObjects Enterprise Java InfoView.
  2. Enter your log in credentials and click Log On.
  3. Click the Document List.
  4. Expand Public Folders > BMC Service Assurance > ProactiveNet Performance Management > Event and Impact Management.
  5. Expand either the Event or Impact folder and select the folder for the type of report that you want to create.

All the available reports are displayed in the main pane on the right.
  6. Double-click the type of report that you want to generate.
  7. Click Refresh All and specify values for the basic parameters required to generate the report:
    • For service impact reports, you must specify one or more business services.
    • For all of the reports, you must specify a time range, the interval (daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly), and other report-specific parameters.

      Note

Some of the out of box reports do not have any prompt to enter a date range or interval.
Daily data summation occurs at 5A.M. daily. BMC recommends to schedule daily data reports after 5A.M. daily so that they can see the daily summarized reports.

  8. Click OK. The report is displayed.
  9. Click Refresh and save the report and then click the hyperlink to go to the sub report.
  10. Return to the main report to view the report with refreshed data.
