Backing up BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and other folders


Before you import the latest BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe into SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, you must back up the existing BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and the following folders:

  • BMC Service Assurance
  • Universes
  • Connections
  • Categories

    Warning

    Note

    You cannot import customizations that you have made to the universe into the new universe. To get your customizations into the new universe, you must create them manually in the new universe.

To back up the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and other folders

  1. From the Start menu, select Programs => BusinessObjects XI 3.1 => BusinessObjects Enterprise => Import Wizard.
  2. On the welcome page of the Import Wizard, click Next.
  3. On the Source environment page, perform the following actions:
    1. In the Source list, select BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1.
    2. In the CMS Name box, type the name of the computer on which you have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.
    3. In the User Name box, type the user name that provides administrative rights to the source environment.

      Warning

      Note

      The default user name is Administrator. You must use the password that you configured for the administrator account at the time of installing SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.

    4. In the Password box, type the corresponding password for the user name.
    5. In the Authentication box, select Enterprise, and click Next.
  4. On the Destination environment page, perform the following actions:
    1. In the Destination list, select Business Intelligence Archive Resource (BIAR) File.
    2. In the BIAR file box, specify the location where you want to save the file.
    3. Click Next. The Select objects to import page is displayed. The options that appear on the page depend on the source environment and its version
  5. Select Import Corporate Categories, Import folders and objects, and Import Universes, and click Next.

     

    Warning

    Note

    Ensure that you have not selected other objects to import.

  6. On the note about importing object rights, click Next.
  7. On the Custom Access Levels page, select Full Control, and click Next.
  8. On the Categories page, click Select All.
     All the categories are selected.
  9. Select the Import all objects that belong to the selected categories check box, and click Next.
  10. On the Folders and objects page, select BMC Service Assurance, and click Next.
  11. On the Select application folders and objects page, ensure that none is selected, and click Next.
  12. On the Import options for universes and connections page, select Import the universes and connections that the selected Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence documents use directly. In the next dialog box, you can select additional universes that are not used by any imported document, and click Next.
     The Universe folder and universes page is displayed. By default, the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management check box is selected.
  13. Click Next.
  14. On the Import options for publications page, select Do not import recipients.
  15. On the note about importing reports, click Next.
  16. On the Ready to import page, click Finish.
     The Import Progress dialog box displays the status information and the import summary while the Import Wizard executes the import tasks. The backup file is stored as a BIAR file.
  17. To view the import log, click View Detail Log.
  18. After the successful import of the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and other folders, click Done to exit the wizard.
