Configuring BMC ProactiveNet cell to get BMC Atrium CMDB configuration items for performance reports


The BMC Atrium CMDB attributes and their values are retrieved from the BMC ProactiveNet cell. You must configure the BMC ProactiveNet cell to get the BMC Atrium CMDB attributes of configuration items (CIs) from the BMC ProactiveNet cell. Perform the following steps to get the BMC Atrium CMDB CIs from BMC ProactiveNet cell.

Perform the following procedure in either of the situations:

  • If you have not configured BMC ProactiveNet cell for Event and Impact reporting in your environment.
  • If you do not want to use Event and Impact reporting in the future.

To use this feature, user must install or upgrade BMC ProactiveNet version 9.0.22.

Error
Warning

By default , configuration items are getting populated from BMC ProactiveNet cell to Report Engine if users have configured BMC ProactiveNet cell for event and Impact Reporting. Do not perform the following steps if you have configured the cell for event and Impact reporting.

These steps stop the impact and event propagation and summarization. Perform these steps if you want only information from CIs for performance reporting.

  1. Specify the location and port number of BMC ProactiveNet Reporting Engine in the mcell.dir file. For more information, see To add the BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine gateway entry in the mcell.dir file.
  2. You must subscribe the BMC ProactiveNet cell for CIs to get propagated to Report Engine. For more information on subscribing the BMC ProactiveNet cell, see Configuring the BMC ProactiveNet cell for impact reporting.
  3. Stop the Reporting Engine service.
  4. In Administration view, Dynamic Editor tab, expand the cell_name folder. For example, pncell_clm-pun-000733.
  5. In the cell_name folder, select all data > Notification registry internal > Notification registry, and delete the notification registry for that Reporting Engine.
  6. Logon to the computer that has Reporting Engine installed and navigate to one of the following directories:
    • (WindowsBMCProactiveNetReportEngineInstallDir\bin\reportsCLI
    • (SolarisBMCProactiveNetReportEngineInstallDir/bin/reportsCLI
  7. To disable the summarization of Availability, MTTR, MTBF, MTBSI, and Losses, run the summarize_flag CLI command. For exmaple, summarize_flag - disbale. For more information, see summarize_flag-command.
  8. Start the Reporting Engine service.
