Configuring IBM WebSphere Application Server


The Add Monitor Types dialog box enables you to configure the WebSphere environment when you select WebSphere as the monitor type. For more information, see Configuring-monitoring-settings.

Description

Environment Configuration

 

PATROL Agent Defined ID

Enter the WebSphere instances that is monitored by PATROL Console and BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management.

Host/IP

Enter the Host name or IP address of the server or dmgr where WebSphere is installed.

Port

Enter the port number for the admin service. The default port is one of the following:

  • 9809
  • 2809

Protocol

Enter one of the following protocols:

  • RMI
  • SOAP

Enable Global Security

Enable or disable the Global Security by selecting one of the following:

  • No
  • Yes

WebSphere Global Security ID

Enter the ID used by the BMC PATROL for IBM WebSphere Application Server Knowledge Module (KM)  to connect to the WebSphere system.

WebSphere Global Security Password

Enter the password used by the BMC PATROL for IBM WebSphere Application Server KM to connect to the WebSphere system.

Local Setup CMD Location

 

Setup Script

Enter the full path to the script that defines the environment variables required by a WebSphere Java Admin Client.

Local WebSphere Admin OS Account

Enter the account used by the BMC PATROL for IBM WebSphere Application Server Knowledge Module (KM) to launch the WebSphere Java Admin Client.

Local WebSphere Admin OS Password

Enter the password used by the BMC PATROL for IBM WebSphere Application Server KM to launch the WebSphere Java Admin Client.

PMI Selection

Select one of the following monitoring options:

  • Server And Application Availability (no PMI required)
  • General Health
  • WebSphere Configured PMI Monitoring
  • Custom PMI settings

Configure Custom PMI

Select the following custom Performance Monitoring Infrastructure options:

  • Alarm Manager
  • DCS
  • Dynamic Cache

    Click Close after you have finished selecting the PMI options for monitoring*.*

MBean Rules

 

Configure MBean Rules

Click Configure MBean Rules to enter the MBean configuration details

MBean

 

Condition name

Enter the display condition name.

Attribute name

Enter the attribute name.

MBean name

Enter the MBean name.

MBean type

Enter the type of the MBean.

WebSphere Cell name

Enter the name of the cell on which the MBean rule should run.

WebSphere Node name

Enter the name of the node on which the MBean rule should run.

Condition type selection

Select from one of the following conditions:

  • Numeric Condition
  • Boolean Condition
  • String Condition

Numeric

Click Numeric, if you have selected the Numeric condition type. Enter the MBean parameter values and set Alarm or Warning thresholds.
Click Close to save and exit the Numeric condition type window.

Boolean

Click Boolean, if you have selected the Boolean condition type. Select the Alarm or Warning thresholds when the Boolean value is true or false.
Click Close to save and exit the Boolean condition type window.

String

Click String, if you have selected the String condition type. Enter the string value you want to monitor and set alarm and warning thresholds.
Click Close to save and exit the String condition type window.

Add to List

Click Add to List to add the MBean rule to the list of MBean rules.

Modify Selection

Click Modify Selection to edit an existing MBean rule.

Remove from List

Click Remove from List to delete an existing MBean rule.

Close

Click Close to save the MBean rule configuration and exit the Configure MBean Rules window.

After adding all relevant WebSphere Application servers, click Close, to save the configuration and exit the window.
