Configuring threshold settings


In the Threshold Configuration tab of Central Monitoring Administration Console, you can configure thresholds for one or more attributes. These thresholds are implemented when the policy that contains the monitor solution is activated.

You can also configure and implement these thresholds in the BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console. See Changing thresholds.

To add and configure monitor thresholds

  1. In the navigation pane of Central Monitoring Administration, click the Policies drawer and select a policy view.
  2. Click Add Add icon.gif, or select an existing policy and click Edit edit icon.gif.
  3. Select the Threshold Configuration tab, and then click Add Add icon.gif
  4. From the Solution menu, select IBM Informix.
  5. From the Version menu, select the required version.
  6. From the Monitor Type menu, select the Monitor Type that contains the attribute for which you want to configure thresholds. Click here for a list of Monitor Types and their Attributes
     Configuration fields are displayed; the fields vary depending on your selections.
  7. From the Scope list, select the threshold scope:
    • Global thresholds are applied to all monitor instances of the selected monitor type.
    • Instance thresholds are applied to the specified monitor instance or instances. If you select Instance, the Instance Name field is displayed. Enter the name of an instance or use regular expressions to define several instances.
  8. From the Attribute list, select a monitor attribute.
  9. From the Type of Threshold list, select the threshold type. For more information, see Threshold Class.

  10. Select and enter values for the threshold parameters.
  11. To continue configuration, perform one or more of the following actions in the Add Thresholds pane:
    • To add the configuration details for the threshold to the Threshold Configuration tab, click Add Add icon.gif.
    • To return settings in the current pane to default values, click Reset. The values on the current pane are reset. Click Add Add icon.gif to save the configuration on the Threshold Configuration tab.
    • To continue adding configuration details, select a different monitor type, version, or solution.
  12. When you finish configuration, click Close.
     The configuration details are displayed in the table on the Threshold Configuration tab.
  13. When you finish configuring thresholds, click Save at the bottom of the Add Policy pane, or Update at the bottom of the Edit Policy pane.

To edit a threshold configuration

  1. On the Threshold Configuration tab, select a threshold definition, and click Edit edit icon.gif.
  2. Edit the configuration values and click Update.
  3. When you finish editing the threshold configuration, click Close.
  4. To save changes to the policy, click Update at the bottom of the Edit Policy pane.
