Debugging

If you contact BMC Customer Support, you might be requested to perform the following tasks.

Enabling debugging

To debug both the Java Collector and the PATROL Agent, you can enable the Debug option when you are configuring monitoring settings.

• By default the Java Collector debug file is saved to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\logs\java. The file name format is <portNumber>_ZXC_JavaCollector
• By default the PATROL Agent debug file is saved to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\logs. The file name format is <portNumber>_ZXC_PSL.

Changing debug file size

The default value of each debug file is 10 MB. You might want to increase the size of one or both of these files.

To change the size of the Java Collector debug file

1. Stop the Java Agent.
2. Access the Collector.properties file. The default path is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\Conf)
3. Modify the DebugFileSize value.

4. Restart the Java Agent. 

   Warning

   Note

   The size of the Java Collector debug file reverts to the default value (10MB) next time you restart the Java Agent.

To change the size of the PATROL Agent debug file

1. Stop the Java Agent.
2. Access the Agent.properties file. The default path is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\Conf)
3. Modify the AgentDebugFileSize value.
4. Restart the Java Agent.
