Configuring after installation
You configure BMC ProactiveNet Converged Infrastructure when you create a policy. A policy is a template containing the configuration of a PATROL Agent. A policy can be assigned to one or more PATROL Agents using a unique tab, and a PATROL Agent can be assigned one or more policies with different precedence.
A policy contains the following major elements, each corresponding to a specific tab in the Central Monitoring Administration:* Name, Central Monitoring Administration tag, and priority. See Configuring-general-settings.
- Converged Infrastructure solution. See Configuring-monitoring-settings.
- Alarm thresholds. See Configuring-threshold-settings.
- Actions to be performed on the BMC ProactiveNet Server when the policy is active. See Configuring server-side settings.
If you have not already added the Central Monitoring Administration tag to your PATROL Agents during the solution installation, you must manually assign the tag after you have configured the policy. For details, seeAdding Central Monitoring Administration tags.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
