Third-party management systems
The topics in this section contain information about integrating BMC Network Automation with third-party network management systems.
Supported third-party management systems
BMC Network Automation supports integrations with the BMC Service Management and third-party network management systems listed in the following table:
For information about how to install and use these integrations, see the respective documentation.
The system offers ease of integration with management systems through its URL-based API. The URL-based API enables third party management systems to launch various change reports and change requests, including the following:
- Launch Change Summary Reports
- Launch Discrepancy Reports
- Launch Compliance Summary Reports
- Launch Configuration Comparison Reports
- Launch Device Inventory Reports
- Submit a Change Request
- Launch a Telnet/SSH Session
- Approve/Reject a Change Request
- View Job Summary Report for a Change Request
See Requirements-for-launching-reports-and-jobs-from-third-party-applications.
In addition, BMC Network Automation provides the following integration points for management systems:
- Web services API: Allows external applications to manage network configuration changes enabling business service automation. See Understanding the Web Services Java API.
- SNMP change notification: Policies enable users to fully customize reporting of change notifications to one or more management stations. See Managing-SNMP-manager-stations.
- Email notifications: Email notifications are automatically sent to IT personnel. The notification can include an attached report such as a Change Summary, Compliance Summary, or Job Summary report. See Configuring-email-notification-for-jobs.
- Import or export configuration files: The system streamlines engineering design workflow through integration with third-party network modeling systems. See Managing-import-and-export-tasks.
