Reviewing the upgrade sequence


Before you start upgrading the products, make sure that you review the upgrade prerequisites. Because not all products are available in each of the deployment types, the upgrade order that you must follow depends on the deployment type that you chose. 

Starting 4.7, you cannot upgrade all BMC products required for the solution by using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer. Products that must be upgraded using the standalone installers (shipped with the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer) are described in the Upgrade BMC products using standalone installers section in this topic. After upgrading the products manually, you can upgrade the rest of the products using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer. 

Upgrade sequence for Compact deployments

Consult the following table for the sequence in which you upgrade the products for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution.

  • Upgrade BMC Remedy AR System, BMC CMDB and Atrium Integrator on the primary server
  • Upgrade BMC Remedy AR System, BMC CMDB and Atrium Integrator on the secondary server instances
  • Upgrade BMC Remedy ITSM and SRM on the primary server
  • Upgrade BMC Remedy ITSM and SRM on the secondary server
  • Apply patches and hot fixes on the primary server
  • Apply patches and hot fixes on the secondary server

BMC Remedy Mid Tier 

Upgrade all instances of BMC Remedy Mid Tier

8.

BMC CMDB – Web Registry Components

Upgrade all instances of BMC CMDB – Web Registry Components.

Before upgrading secondary instances, ensure that you delete the Atrium WebServices entries from SHARE:Application_Properties form on the Primary AR Server.
