Uninstalling planner, individual cloud products, or the cloud solution

This topic describe how to uninstall individual BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management products (for example, the install planner) as well as the entire BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution (sometimes called the cloud stack). It contains the following information:

Note

If you uninstall a component on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, you need to manually update the StackInformation.properties file on the Platform Manager. In the file, delete all entries for the component; otherwise, the changes are not reflected accurately in the cloud database.

To uninstall the planner

To uninstall the planner, use the BMC uninstaller executable.

Note

Do not use the Windows Control Panel on Windows systems to uninstall the planner.

  1. Open the host where you installed the planner.
  2. Change directories to the installation directory.
For example, navigate to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Planner\UninstallBMCPlanner (Windows) or /opt/bmc/Planner/UninstallBMCPlanner (Linux).
  3. Run the uninstall.cmd (Windows) or uninstall.sh (Linux) executable.
  4. Navigate through the panels of the uninstaller until the planner is successfully uninstalled.

To uninstall individual cloud products

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management contains individual executables to uninstall products individually.  Use the uninstall executable as needed to uninstall individual cloud products. Typically, you would uninstall a product during the cloud stack installation process itself, for example, you installed the AR System Server on a host and you needed to uninstall it for some reason.

Warning

Uninstalling individual products will affect the working integrity of the entire cloud solution.

  1. Open the host where you installed the product.
  2. Change directory to the installation directory.
For example, navigate to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMCCloudLifeCycleManagement\UninstallBMCCloudLifeCycleManagement. The following table lists all the available uninstallers.

    Cloud product

    Uninstaller location (Windows)

    AO-Content

    C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AO-Content\UninstallContent

    AO AMREPO

    C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AO-Platform\AMREPO\UninstallBMCAO

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management (this uninstall executable uninstalls extensions, Portal, and several other products)

    C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMCCloudLifeCycleManagement\UninstallBMCCloudLifeCycleManagement

    BMC Service Request Management

    C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMCServiceRequestManagement

    CLM Patch Installer

  3. Run the uninstall executable.
  4. Navigate through the panels of the uninstaller until the product is successfully uninstalled.
  5. If you uninstall an individual component on BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, manually update the StackInformation.properties file on the Platform Manager located at C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMCCloudLifeCycleManagement\Platform_Manager\configuration (Windows) or /opt/bmc/BMCCloudLifeCycleManagement/Platform_Manager/configuration (Linux).
In StackInformation.properties, delete all entries for the component; otherwise, the changes are not reflected accurately in the cloud database.

To uninstall the cloud solution by re-provisioning the product hosts

Note

Do not uninstall the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management products if you plan to re-use the hosts in the cloud stack for future installations.

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management does not provide a program to uninstall the entire cloud stack. To uninstall the entire BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management stack, re-provision the product hosts instead:

  1. Take the product hosts offline.
You can do this in any order.
  2. Re-provision the hosts.
For example, the VMware vSphere documentation describes multiple ways to re-provision a host. Use the option that best applies to your situation.
  3. Verify that there are no existing BMC applications after you re-provision the hosts.
If you plan to re-use the hosts with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, no existing applications should be present to prevent installation conflicts (for example, default ports).
