Downloading the installation files

You obtain the product installation files by downloading them from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. Your ability to access product pages on the EPD website is determined by the license entitlements purchased by your company. See License-entitlements.

Installation files

The following table provides links to the page in the EPD website that contains the installation files for this product. From the EPD page you can select and download the installation files for your platform. Access to the EPD website requires that you provide your BMC Support credentials. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

The following table lists the installation files available on the EPD for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management:

Downloading and extracting the files

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into  the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the  temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that  contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than  two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management <version> download page.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Sign In.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the  required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. On the Product or Patches tab, select the files that you want to download for the applicable version and save it.
  6. To extract the files on Microsoft Windows, do these steps:

    1. Create a folder named CLMInstaller.
    1. Right-click bmcclm<version>windows.part1.zip, (for example, bmcclm47.windows.part1.zip), and select Extract All.
    1. Select the CLMInstaller folder.
    2. Open the Applications folder and verify its contents.
  7. To extract the files on Linux, do these steps:
    1. Create a directory named /CLMInstaller on the computer where you plan to run the installer.
    2. Copy the bmcclm<version>.linux.part1.tar.gz to that directory.
    3. Run the following command for each of the tar files:

      tar xvzf bmcclm<version>.linux.part1.tar.gz
    4. After extracting all the files, grant the correct permissions to the directory:

      chmod -R 755 CLMInstaller

Verifying the contents of the installation files

  1. Ensure that the following folders are available:
    • AO-Content
    • BL-NSH
    • BL-RSCD
    • BMC-CLM
    • CLM-UI
    • INFOZIP
    • SelfChecker
  2. Open each folder and verify its content.
  3. Navigate to the installer executable (CLMInstaller > Planner > Disk1) and verify that the setup executable exists.

Obtaining Adopt JRE

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution uses Adopt Java 1.8.0_202 version, and a licensed Oracle Java version 1.8.0_202, if available.

You use the Adopt JRE that is bundled with the installer as an external JRE for BMC Remedy AR System components, BMC Remedy Mid-Tier, and BMC Atrium Web Services components. Optionally, you can use Adopt JRE as an external JRE for CLM products such as the Platform Manager, Cloud Portal AR Extensions, SelfChecker, Cloud Portal Web Application. Note that these products support installation using Bundled JRE also.

To copy Adopt JRE, do these steps:

  1. Extract files from the following zip files:
    • Windows: CLMInstaller\Applications\CLM-UI/Windows/Installer.zip
    • Linux: CLMInstaller/Applications/CLM-UI/Linux/Installer.tar.gz
  2. On the host server of the product where you want to use as an external JRE, create a new directory.

    For example:

    • Windows: C:\AdoptJava
    • Linux: /usr/adoptjava
  3. Copy Disk1/files/jre to the newly created directories.

You can now continue with the installation or upgrade to this version.

Where to go from here

Carefully review the system requirements for your platform and other tasks necessary for setting up the installation environment. You must perform these tasks before you launch the installation program.
