Onboarding and offboarding network pods


Pods represent a portion of the cloud bound by a set of physical network devices such as routers, firewalls, and load balancers. For overview information about network resources, see Network-resources-overview.

You must onboard one or more network pods to make BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management aware of the network environment.

Before you begin

One or more pods must be configured in BMC Network Automation.

To onboard a pod

  1. From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
  2. Under Quick Links at left, click Pods under the General section.
  3. Click the Onboard Pod icon plus_button.gif. The Onboard Pod dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click the Provider Name menu button to select the resource provider instance for the pod. The default network resource provider is listed as BBNA for BMC Network Automation.
  5. Select the pods that you want to onboard.
  6. Click Onboard to onboard the selected pods and close the dialog box.

After onboarding a pod and onboarding network container blueprints, you can continue setting up resources by importing network containers, creating network containers, and onboarding compute resources in the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration console.

To offboard a pod

You can offboad a pod that is no longer being used in the cloud.

Note

You can offboard a pod only when the pod has no network containers.

  1. From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
  2. Under Quick Links on the left, click Pods under the General section.
     The list of onboarded pods is displayed.
  3. Select the pod that you want to offboard.
  4. Click the Offboard Pod icon minus_button.gif.
     The Offboard Pod confirmation dialog box is displayed.
  5. Click Yes to offboard the selected Pod and close the dialog box.

Pending activities

When background activity is required from a command issued in the user interface, the Pending Activity section opens to display the progress and status of the background activity. You can:

  • Remove a completed activity record from the Pending Activity table by selecting the record and clicking the Delete Activity icon minus_button.gif.
  • Get detailed error information about a failed activity by selecting the record and clicking the Advanced Error Information icon adverrorinfobtn.gif.
  • Display the Audit Trail workspace by clicking the Audit Trail icon auditrailbutton.gif.
  • Click the Refresh icon refreshbtn.gifin the Pending Activity section to refresh the table.

After the activity is marked as complete, you can click the Refresh icon refreshbtn.gifin the upper-right corner of the window to refresh the Pods table so that the newly onboarded pods appear in the table.
