Requesting cloud services
This topic describes how to request cloud service offerings from the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – My Cloud Services Console.
Your cloud administrator determines which services are available to you in the service catalog. For example, your catalog of services might include offerings such as a Windows server, network-attached storage, a Linux, Apache HTTP server, MySQL, PHP/Perl/Python (LAMP) stack, or a turnkey instance of a web commerce site. You can request a service available in the catalog only.
To request cloud services
- From My Cloud Services Console, click New Service Request
on the Service Instances pane.
The Service Catalog tab is displayed. Alternatively, you can click the Service Catalog tab to display the available services. - On the Service Catalog tab, perform any of the following actions to select a service offering that suits your requirement:
- Click
to view service offerings that you might have added to the favorites list by clicking
on the service offering.
- Click Popular to view service offerings that are requested frequently.
- Click Browse to browse through the service catalog and view the available service offerings.
- From the My Requests box, click Request Again to request the service offering from the list of frequently requested services.
- Click
- Select the service offering that you want and click
.
If the service offering that you selected offers options to customize your service, select those options now. As you select options, the Selected Options and Pricing Summary sections on the right side of the dialog box keep a running total of the selected options and their cost. Some services offer no options. - Click Next. The following figure is displayed.
- In the Submit Request dialog box, enter the requested information.
Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.- In the Name and Description fields, enter the name and description for the service offering.
- Use the controls in the Quantity field to increase or decrease the number of services that you require.
- From the Cost Center list, select the appropriate cost center.
- In the Instance Name Prefix field, enter the name of the server.
- In the Date Desired field, select the date and time at which you want the service provisioned. The current date is selected by default.
- In the Decommission Date field, select the date on which you want the service to be decommissioned.
In Username, Password, and Confirm Password, enter the appropriate credentials.
- Click Next.
In the dialog box, verify the details of the request, the selected options, and the pricing summary. Click Submit.
Your service, after approval, is commissioned on the date and time that you selected.
To verify the provisioning of the requested cloud service
- Click the Activities tab on My Cloud Services Console to view the status of the request.
- Click the Service Catalog tab and view the status in the My Requests pane.
- Click Details to view the details of the request.
- Click Request Again to request the same service offering again.
Some details, such as the user name, Instance Name Prefix, and so on are displayed.
