Managing the OpenStack Logical Data Centers
A Logical Data Center is a logical construct that can be any external data center entity. For example, in the context of an OpenStack Provider, a Logical Data Center is a Project. A Logical Data Center is similar to, and at the same hierarchical level as, a network container. Both a Logical Data Center and a network container belong to a logical hosting environment, which acts as a separate, abstract entity that contains the data for the Logical Data Center or network container.
This topic describes how to customize BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management to manage the OpenStack Logical Data Center. To understand how BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management objects correspond to the OpenStack constructs, see the Overview-of-the-OpenStack-Provider.
You can onboard, offboard, edit, and map a tenant to the Logical Data Centers in the Network Container tab (part of the logical hosting environment) of the Resource Management workspace.
Before you begin
- Ensure that you have registered the OpenStack provider and defined the OpenStack account credentials; otherwise, a Logical Data Center search will not display results.
- Ensure that you have created and imported the tenant for which you want to onboard the Logical Data Center. For more information, see Creating-and-importing-tenants.
- To enable VM placement in specific subnets of an OpenStack Virtual Network, ensure that you have defined subnets for the network in OpenStack ( ).
