Installing an OpenStack Provider using the OpenStack Provider installer


This topic describes how to install the OpenStack Provider through the OpenStack installer. The following information is provided:

Before you begin

Before you install the OpenStack Provider, ensure that you have completed the tasks listed in Prerequisites-for-installing-or-upgrading-the-OpenStack-Provider and that you have the OpenStack Provider installer files (setup.cmd or setup.sh) stored on your local computer.

To install the OpenStack Provider

  1. At the command prompt, run the setup command to start the installation:
    • (Microsoft Windows, logged on as Administrator) setup.cmd
    • (Linux, logged on as root) setup.sh
  2. On the Welcome page, shown in the following figure, click Next.

  3. Review the license agreement (shown in the following figure) and select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.

  4. Review the OpenStack Provider Installer Prerequisites window, shown in the following figure, and ensure that the installation requirements are met:

  5. Select I have read the prerequisites, and then click Next.
  6. Select the type of installation as Install or Upgrade (shown in the following figure).

  7. In the BMC AR System Server inputs window, enter the BMC AR System server name and the BMC AR System server user credentials for one of the following installation types, and click Next: 
    • For a new installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0.01 or an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0.00 to BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0.01, enter the information shown in the following figure:

    • For an upgrade from an earlier installation of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 3.1.00 to BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0.00, enter the information shown in the following figure:

  8. In the Cloud Platform Manager inputs window, shown in the following figure, specify the required details and click Next:
    • Host name — Name of the server where the Cloud Platform Manager is installed
    • User name — User name to log on to the  Cloud Platform Manager
    • Password — Password to authenticate the user name
    • Directory location — Directory where the Cloud Platform Manager server is installed

  9. On the Installation Preview page, click Next.
  10. Read the warning about stopping the BMC_CSM service of the Cloud Platform Manager, and click Next.
  11. On the Installation Summary page, click View Log to review any messages.
  12. To exit the installer, click Done.

To verify the installation

In the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Providers.
The OpenStack Provider appears in the Provider Type list:
