Configuring BMC Service Request Management Advanced Interface Form templates

After you create a customized advanced interface form in BMC Service Request Management, you must register the Advanced Interface Form template and its associated form and class with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. (The underlying BMC Service Request Management workflow defines the relation between the form and class.)

To register the Advanced Interface Form for the BMC Service Request Management interface

  1. Click the SRM Configuration tab to display Advanced Interface Form templates, as shown in the following figure:

The product provides the following default templates:

    Template

    Purpose

    Compute

Provisions Windows or Linux virtual machines

    Storage-FileSystem

    Provisions file system storage

    Storage-BlockDevice

    Provisions block device storage

    EC2

Provisions an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instance

    vCloud

    Provisions a VMware vCloud instance

  2. Click the Add icon to display the Add Custom Advanced Interface dialog box, as shown in the following figure:

  3. Complete the following fields:

    Field

    Description

    AIF Template Name

Descriptive name for the interface template

    Form Name

Underlying Advanced Interface Form to link to the template

    Cloud Class

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management class to which the form and template belong. The following out-of-the-box classes are available:
    com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.BlockDevice
    com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.Filesystem
    ServiceOfferingInstance
The .BlockDevice and .Filesystem classes are storage related.
You can enter any valid BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management class name.

    Status

Indicates whether the interface template is active. A template remains active until you manually set it to inactive, and it remains inactive until you set it to active.

  4. Click Save to keep your changes and close the dialog box.

To edit an existing Advanced Interface Form template

  1. To edit an existing template, select the template name and click the Edit Custom AIFicon to display the Edit Custom Advanced Interface dialog box.

    Note

You can reset the Status indicator from active to inactive or from inactive to active for the five default templates. You cannot edit any of the other fields.

  2. For a user-defined template, make any necessary modifications to the template name, form name, or cloud class.
  3. Update the Status indicator.

    Note

If you change the status of an active template to inactive, its associated processes and activities are no longer available.

If you are performing the initial configuration of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, continue with Creating-and-managing-resources.
