Enabling NetApp DataFabric Manager features
To fully implement the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management storage provisioning features, you must purchase specific NetApp DataFabric Manager (DFM) licenses from NetApp. These licenses allow the DFM server to communicate with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management and enable certain features.
The following DFM features require licenses:
Licensed feature | Purpose |
---|---|
core | Enables fundamental DFM functionality |
bizcon | Required for monitoring status of DFM components and discovering directories |
srm | Required for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management to communicate with the DFM server |
dataprotection | Required to enable protection policy |
provisioning | Required to enable provisioning policy |
disasterrecovery | Required to enable disaster recovery |
In addition, to enable multi-tenancy to work with vFiler, enable the multistore license on the corresponding vFiler device. If the vFiler multistore license is not enabled, BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management uses the physical filer instead.
You can display your available DataFabric Manager licenses by entering the dfm license list command on your DFM server: for example, C:\>dfm license list. The list includes the license code, serial number, number of nodes, and expiration date. Use the dfm license install license key command to install the licenses after you have purchased them.
You also should enable Network File System (NFS) and Common Internet File System (CIFS) licenses on the NetApp filer because BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management uses NFS and CIFS network shares on the storage volume during provisioning.
