Managing resources for Amazon Web Services


The following sections describe the administrative activities you can perform once the resources to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) have been configured.

Editing a logical data center for AWS

When you edit a logical data center for AWS, you can make the following changes:

  • Modify the description
  • Update the tags for the logical data center
  • Update the tags for the logical networks

To edit a logical data center, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Resource Management workspace, under the Network > Network Containers link, select the logical data center to edit, and click the Edit Logical Data Center icon to open the Edit Logical Data Centers dialog box. 
  2. Complete the required fields:

    Field

    Description

    Name

    Name assigned to the logical data center.

    Description

    User-supplied description that distinguishes the logical data center. You can modify the description.

    Tags

    Tag or tags that are currently assigned to this logical data center. You can update the tags for this Logical Data Center.

    Provider Name

    The provider to which this logical data center is associated.

    Mapped Tenants

    Names of the tenants that are mapped to this logical data center.

    Logical Data Center Organization

    Name of the entity to which the logical data center belongs.

    Networks

    The logical networks that are part of this logical data center. You can update the network tags.

  3. To modify the description, enter new text or change the existing text.
  4. To update the logical data center tags, click the Add Tag to Logical Data Center icon to open the Tags dialog box. For more information on using tags, see Managing-blueprint-tags.
  5. To update the logical network tags, click the Add Tag to Logical Network icon to open the Tags dialog box. For more information on using tags, see Managing-blueprint-tags.
  6. Click Save.

Decommissioning or deleting a logical data center for AWS

In public clouds it is extremely important to track and release every component due to billing issues. You can decommission or delete logical data centers from the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management administrator console.

To  decommission or delete a logical data center, complete the following steps:

  1. From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
  2. Under Quick Links on the left, click Network Containers under the Network section.
  3. Select the logical data center that you want to delete.
  4. Click the Delete Network Container icon.
    A confirmation dialog box is displayed, asking you if you want to delete the logical data center.
  5. Click Yes to delete the logical data center and close the dialog box.
