Managing the file system on a device
To view the file system
- From the Welcome page, search for a device or select a device from the list of frequently selected devices.
- Click Actions > Direct Access > File System.
The File System tab is displayed.
To create a directory
You can create directories in the file structure of the managed device.
- From the File System tab, select the directory under which the new directory is to be placed.
- Click Create Directory.
The New Directory dialog box is displayed. - Enter a name for the new directory and then click OK to confirm your addition, otherwise click Cancel.
To run a program
You can directly run a program on the selected device.
- From the File System tab, select the executable file to be run.
- Click Actions > Run.
The Execution Parameters dialog box is displayed. - In the Command Line Parameters box, enter the parameters with which the program is to be executed. If the program does not need any parameters, then leave the text box blank.
- Click OK.
To edit a file
Text files with a size smaller than 200KB can be directly edited in the console.
- From the File System tab, select the text file to be edited.
- Click Actions > Edit File.
The Edit Text File window is displayed with the contents of the file. - Make all necessary changes in the file.
- Click OK at the bottom of the window to confirm the modifications, and to close the window.
To copy and paste a file
You can copy a file and paste it to any directory on the selected device.
- From the File System tab, select the file to be copied.
- Click Actions > Copy.
The Paste File button is displayed. - Go to the target directory and click Paste File.
To rename a file
- From the File System tab, select the file to be renamed.
- Click Actions > Rename.
- Edit the file name and press Enter.
To remove a file
- From the File System tab, select the file to be removed.
- Click Actions > Remove.
A confirmation window is displayed. - Click Continue.
